One of the great perks of working for Disney is that you have access to the parks, and all of them. Since it is a saturday in high season, Vada and I decided to go to Disney's Animal Kingdom with the hopes that it wouldn't be extremely busy. When we arrived we had to park so far out that we took a tram to get to the entrance. We were a little to excited that there was a tram....
We saw so many amazing animals. There was a wide variety, from common to endangered wandering around right next to or far away from the safari vehicle. My favorite were the sleeping hippos.
Still in the Africa section was the amazing Festival of the Lion King! Amazing performers, vocals, acrobatics and dance. The costumes were over the top and I have no other words other than amazing. I am sure I could describe more, but I would need to go back and see it again because I am so in awe of this performance. This is the first time that I have really missed dance in a long time.
When we left Festival we were greeted by, guess what, another thunder storm. We put on rain jackets and ponchos and decided to head to our next ride and hide out in the line until everything reopened. The ride we chose was in the Asia section and was Expedition Everest. There are artifacts everywhere to look at, with information on the Yhetti, exploration routes to K2, shrines and prayer flags, and amazing religious artwork that was stunning, if you ever need a place to be stuck this is the place. After a while they reopened the ride, and it was great! Nothing like a good roller coaster in the rain to make a memory.
And then it started raining hard again, so we went to Finding Nemo the Musical. Amazing Puppetry and sets and props. Worth the wait, and I wish it was longer. It was stunning with all the effects that can be done with projections as well as costumes/props/
Then the thunder started again....By this point my brand new TOMS were soaked and we were miserably cold and wet, so we decided to head towards the exit. However we got side tracked and went on Dinosaur. SCARY!!!!!!!!! this ride freaked me out. Cool effects but the Dinosaurs were a little to real to me. Next time I will sit in the middle not on the edge. I am on the far right middle row.
So then we decided to leave... and got sidetracked (this will become a theme). We went on primevil whirl which was awesome and had no wait what so ever. Then we saw characters so we had to get photos. So here is Vada and I with Donald, Goofy and Pluto. I am not going to lie the characters scare me a bit, I could not imagine going up and hugging one as a child, its odd enough as an adult.
Then we found the exit sign and started to follow them, and we ended up on "It's tough being a bug". This was my least favorite attraction of the day. I do not like bugs so having the effects make it seems like they are underneath you, in front of you and then having spiders descend was not my idea of fun. I hope to not have nightmares tonight of bugs and dinosaurs... After that we were done, so we got closer to the exit and found Dug and Russell from UP. So we had to stop and take photos. Russell was very interested in my minnie mouse earrings and Dug kept licking my hair, it was really funny. It was nice getting to take photos with so many characters.
